Shannon Michael Terry
Born in Los Angeles California, Shannon at an early age was drawing, painting, assembling and making sound. Today, Shannon continues as a multi-disciplinary artist and producer. In 1997, Shannon became resident artist and composer at the Bureau of Arts and Culture in Los Angeles. There he began to explore the relationship between visual art, sound and music, creating original compositions for art exhibitions. Shannon’s residency at the bureau also led to the creation of the OPEN DOOR ORCHESTRA a revolving ensemble of players from around the world. Their music utilizes an array of instruments with both primitive and contemporary influences.
In 1999 as a photographer, Shannon began a series of work entitled Distressed Photography. Distressed Photography the Original Collection was completed in 2007 and consists of twenty hand distressed 5” x 7” prints, mounted on aluminum and sued, set in a custom aluminum box.
Shannon is currently working on a project featuring photographs of cities around the world taken at 4am in the morning.
